
According to the Ministry of Education and Research, on July 9, 27 laboratories, classrooms and training centers were inaugurated, modernized and equipped with the latest technologies, digital infrastructure was expanded to ensure the learning process according to European standards. The laboratories of the faculties of Physics and Engineering, Chemistry and Chemical Technology, Biology and Earth Sciences, Mathematics and Informatics are equipped with furniture, scientific and didactic, multimedia and networking equipment. As well as licenses for the use of applications and didactic software to adapt the learning process in biological, physical and environmental sciences to the rigorous requirements of the labor market.
Another 25 classrooms will open in September this year.
“The World Bank has been and remains a long-term partner of RM in modernizing the education system. We have invested and continue to invest heavily in general and higher education, working closely with the project team, the Ministry of Education and Research and the universities. It is very important to create these modern spaces to provide young people with all the resources they need. I am sure that students who have completed the improved educational programs will be better qualified for employment,” said Nalin Jena, WB Expert Group Leader, who paid a monitoring visit to Chisinau.
Sergiu Harea, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, coordinator of the project, said: “Today, when the project is at the final stage, we see that the state’s investments have been successful. We have modern laboratories, classrooms equipped with equipment so that the graduates of these universities become those who will make the country’s economy competitive”.
Last year, also with the support of the project, USM opened a Data Processing Center with high-performance equipment, unique for Moldova. In addition, two lecture halls were renovated and equipped.
It is worth mentioning that the university also updated its curricula, plans and methodological materials, and 16 new disciplines were opened in the IT field.
At the same time, at the expense of the project, the capital repair of the dormitory No. 2 is underway, during which all rooms will be redesigned in accordance with current norms, the roof will be reconstructed, internal networks will be modernized and a new ventilation system will be built.
