For the first time the diaspora will be allocated separate budgetary places in universities

For the first time there will be targeted budgetary places for young people returning from the diaspora: “we will start with 100 places”. This was announced by the Minister of Education and Science Dan Perciun.

Of the total number of budgetary places, 5,295 are for licentiate, 2,856 for master’s degree, as well as several places for residency, clinical internship for foreign citizens under bilateral agreements with other states.

Traditionally, the largest number of budget seats is offered in the field of pedagogy. It is followed by engineering, production technology, architecture and construction, health care, IT, agriculture and forestry, veterinary science and environmental protection. This year, the number of budget places in economics and law has also been increased, despite the high popularity of these specialties.

Winners of national and international Olympiads can enter universities without competition.

For the first time, 194 places will be allocated for dual education in the system of higher education. Previously, this form of education was available only in colleges and vocational schools. This format allows students to study and simultaneously work in a company selected by the university in the field of their specialty.

The application process will take place in two stages. The first round will begin on Monday, July 21, and will end on July 27. The final results will be known on August 5, after which applicants will submit their original documents. The final lists of applicants will be published on August 12, after which the second round of admission for the remaining budgetary places will begin. It will end on August 24.

As in the previous year, the admission – including, for the first time, for Master’s programs – will be conducted through the electronic system e-Admitere.gov.md.

“We have made every effort together with Moldcell and Orange to reach almost all lyceums and to simplify the process of obtaining an electronic signature – more than 50% of graduates already have it”, said Dan Perciun.

There are 16 universities and academies in Moldova, including 6 accredited abroad. The applicants can apply to three universities at once. This year, about 200 specialties and study programs are offered. Five new specialties are being introduced: medical physics, bioengineering of medical devices, medical technologies and biomaterials, land reclamation and smart agriculture. Licentiate studies last 3-4 years, Master’s studies last from one and a half to two years.
