A total of 493 people came together on the Great National Assembly Square in Chișinău to form the image of a grapevine during the 25th celebration of National Wine Day. The record was officially confirmed during the event itself by Pravin Patel, an official representative of the Guinness World Records.

The image of the grapevine was created based on a sketch previously approved by the Guinness World Records and was approximately 39 metres long. Participants were tasked with forming all the elements of the vine: the root and central stem, branches, six grapes, six leaves and several shoots. Each component was distinguished by the colour of the participants’ clothing to ensure the final image was clear and easily recognisable from the air – one of the key conditions for confirming a Guinness World Record.

Thus, for approximately 15 minutes, all participants remained in their pre-determined positions whilst a representative from the Guinness World Records checked that all the conditions necessary for the record to be confirmed had been met. Among the participants who created the ‘world’s largest human vine’ were representatives from the ‘Ștefan cel Mare’ Academy, the Technical University of Moldova and the Centre of Excellence in Viticulture and Winemaking, representatives from medical educational institutions, guests of the National Directorate for Viticulture and Winemaking (ONVV) and members of the ONVV team, as well as senior officials.

493 people formed a single image

Each participant had a pre-assigned position corresponding to the elements of the formation. Access to all elements was controlled, and the number of participants was tracked using the official Guinness World Records app for participant verification, which was used for individual registration, QR code scanning and to prevent double counting.

The area designated for the attempt was separated from the public zone, with clearly marked and controlled entrances and exits, so that the counting and positioning of participants could be carried out in accordance with Guinness World Records requirements.

The formation of the image was coordinated on site by 46 people, each of whom was responsible for a specific section of the vineyard. Two organisational teams managed the flow of participants, access routes and positioning so that 493 people could quickly form a unified and easily recognisable image when viewed from the air.
